Wheel Installation Instructions for Royal Titanium Bolts by Palm Beach Dyno
Thank you for choosing Royal Titanium bolts by Palm Beach Dyno for your drag racing beadlock wheels. To ensure a proper and hassle-free installation, please follow the instructions below. It is important to note that titanium bolts require extra care due to their unique properties compared to steel bolts. Titanium has a lower yield strength than steel, and therefore, it is crucial to handle them with care and adhere to the recommended torque specifications. Failure to do so may result in broken bolts.
Before starting the installation process, we recommend using steel bolts to mount the tire on the rim. This approach minimizes the risk of over-tightening and potential damage to the titanium bolts. Once the bead ring is properly seated, you can replace the steel bolts with the Royal Titanium bolts for optimal performance. If steel bolts are not available, the titanium bolts may be used during tire installation.
Prepare the Hardware
For each Royal Titanium bolt, you will need a washer.
Apply a small amount of anti-seize to each bolt to prevent galling or seizing during installation.
Mount the Tire on the Wheel
Thoroughly inspect both the tire bead and wheel flange for any signs of damage, defects, or debris.
Position the tire over the wheel, ensuring that the lower bead goes past the flange and seats as far down the barrel as possible.
The top bead should lay flat against the beadlock flange.
Place the beadlock ring over the tire bead.
Start by hand-tightening the first four Royal Titanium bolts with washers, positioning them at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions.
Proceed to install the remaining bolts with washers, tightening them finger-tight.
Tightening Procedure - IMPORTANT!
Begin tightening each bolt by turning them 3-4 times in a star or criss-cross pattern using a 10mm socket. Use a torque wrench the entire time to ensure you do not exceed 15 ft-lbs. at any point during the process. NEVER USE AN IMPACT GUN.
Repeat this process until the tire bead becomes compressed and the lock ring is nearly in contact with the wheel. Do not exceed 15 ft-lbs of torque at this stage.
Using a torque wrench, tighten the bolts in a star or criss-cross pattern to a torque of 15 ft-lbs.
To ensure even torque distribution, continue to torque the bolts in a clockwise fashion until they all reach a torque of 18 ft-lbs. This may require more than one rotation around the wheel.
Re-check Beadlock Bolt Torque
After completing the first tightening pass, re-check the torque of each beadlock bolt.
Additionally, after every five passes, inspect and re-torque the beadlock bolts to maintain proper torque specifications.
Inspect Beadlock Ring
During each tire installation, carefully inspect the beadlock ring for any signs of bends or distortion.
Do not use a beadlock ring that appears bent or distorted, as it may compromise the wheel's performance and safety.
By following these instructions, you will ensure a secure and reliable installation of Royal Titanium bolts for your drag racing beadlock wheels. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Palm Beach Dyno for assistance. Happy Racing!
